I have significant experience dealing with academic admissions. From 1998 to 2007, I assisted physicians who were on the University of Minnesota Medical School admissions committee, preparing their official recommendations after interviewing applicants. Between 2004 and 2016, I was responsible for collecting and reviewing applications of all interviewing applicants at a medical residency program. Materials included a personal statement, which is very much like a college, graduate school, or medical school application essay. We interviewed between 75 and 100 applicants annually for six positions each year. I became very familiar with the characteristics necessary for an essay to stand out and be well received.

You will need to verify the initial draft’s accuracy before I ask a second round of questions to allow me to further tailor the essay to you and your situation, ensuring that the end result truly represents you, while avoiding a cliche or boilerplate feel. This process typically takes 2-4 hours, but will involve some back and forth communication.
